• Hamptons Art Hub: Art Southampton is "A Class Act"

    by Art Southampton

"Art Southampton, now in its fourth year, has become a sprawling lodestone of cultural observation and thought, a mandatory intellectual pause in a summer of sand and rosé, assembled this year in the grassy field surrounding Nova’s Ark."

That's the eruditious James Croak writing in Hamptons Art Hub. The piece is entitled "CRITIC VIEW: Art Southampton -- Nothing to See but Art", and it's a lucid and astute look at what's on view for 2015.

  • ArtNet News: Art Southampton Has "No Competition"

    by Art Southampton

"Overall, [Art Southampton] has the best dealers, the best art and is the best place to be looking at and buying serious art during the summer out on the East End. No competition."

That's the keen-eyed Cait Munro summing up Art Southampton's 4th annual edition for artnet News. Among the artists and galleries cited in Munro's "Fun and Funky" assessment are Russell Young and Tagliatella, Ormond Gigli and Beetles + Huxley, as well as Banksy and Keszler Gallery, who, reluctantly or not, combined behind the art fair favorite "Grumpier Truck Door" (above).

  • Strong Summer Sales Reveal Ties to Art History

    by Art Southampton

Hollis Taggart Galleries sale of Jack Tworkov's "House of the Sun Variation" (above) is just one of the many VIP Preview deals cited by Blouin ArtInfo's Eric Bryant in his comprehensive "Summer Sales: Collectors Flock to Art Southampton".

The 1952 classic also happens to be a Variation of the work thoroughly immortalized by Hirschl & Adler Modern-affiliated East End Legend (and Art Southampton Artist of the Day) Fairfield Porter in his 1953 ARTNews' feature "Tworkov Paints a Picture".

  • Artsy Aces a Pair From Art Southampton!

The awe-inspiring ops at Artsy paired aces Baker Sponder and Contessa in advance of the upcoming Art Southampton...

And ended up with one heckuva winning hand!

  • Bruce Helander Sails Into Art Southampton for HuffPost

    by Art Southampton

The ever brilliant Bruce Helander sets his considerable sight -- and his sail -- on Art Southampton, and the results, as you might suspect, are absolutely spectacular!

Then again, when a keen-eyed cat like Helander takes to an outlet like Huffington Post and shows how the likes of Rauschenberg, Condo and Baselitz help make for a spectacle such as Art Southampton, spectacular is an absolute given.
