ABOUT

Since opening in Chelsea in September 2010, De Buck Gallery has strived to provide a stable of both primary and secondary market artists working across several disciplines and in a variety of mediums. The gallery’s focus is to bring a wide variety of emerging and mid-career international artists to the New York scene.  Many of our artists have exhibited widely in Europe and De Buck Gallery seeks to introduce them to New York collectors and art-lovers.

De Buck Gallery’s artist roster reflects some of the hottest trends on the international art scene, ranging from street art, as practiced by Zevs to the Minimalist tendencies of artists like Jane Manus and Harald Schmitz-Schmelzer. These artists build upon the legacy of the late twentieth-century artists who first developed these areas decades ago, while creating unquestionably contemporary works of art. The intersection of technology and art is also a prime area of interest for De Buck Gallery, as evidenced by Hans Kotter’s LED light sculptures and Ruby Anemic’s neon works. Other artists represented by De Buck Gallery include Dieter Balzer, John Clement, David Drebin, Dion Johnson, Fernando Monteil Klint, Victor Matthews, Georges Moquay, Regine Schumann, and William Sweetlove. In addition, De Buck Gallery maintains an inventory of selective blue-chip secondary market artists, primarily from the fields of New Realism and Pop Art.

The gallery’s founder, David De Buck was raised and educated in Belgium and hails from a leading art dealing family.  As a result, Mr. De Buck grew up with personal access to the work and personalities of the icons of New Realism movement including Christo, Niki de St. Phalle and others. This unique upbringing in Europe brings Mr. De Buck both a visceral and passionate connection to his chosen vocation and an international prism which differentiates De Buck Gallery from many New York galleries and dealers.
