Scott White Contemporary Art has been committed to presenting world-class, museum-caliber exhibitions since 1991. With close to 30 years of experience as an art dealer, the gallery’s owner and director, Scott White, has been a pioneer in the contemporary art scene in San Diego. First establishing SOMA gallery in 1991 in the Gaslamp District of downtown San Diego, he focused on representing mid-career and emerging artists, the majority of which are represented in museum collections around the world. In addition to curating some of the most critically acclaimed exhibitions from the start, Scott White has also advised a wide range of private, public and corporate collections.

Over the years, the gallery has developed its reputation as a leading source for relevant, fresh and important works of modern and contemporary painting, sculpture and photography. In November 2008, Scott White Contemporary Art brought an unprecedented year-long public sculpture exhibition to the city of San Diego. The exhibition, entitled Monumental Works, featured the sculptures of renowned French artist Bernar Venet. The work adorned key locations throughout San Diego’s Port District as well as other landmarks around the city. The exhibition garnered national and international attention, elevating the city of San Diego’s profile as a desirable destination for contemporary art.
